COLLECTABLES FAIR

This Australia Day weekend, you can fossick in the Goldfields for antiques and collectables at the Campbells Creek Collectables Fair.

There are over 100 enthusiastic stall holders on site at the Campbells Creek community hall.

Admission is $5 for all.

Where: Community Hall, Elizabeth Street, Campbells Creek.

SUMMERTIME FLING

Cellar doors across the Macedon Ranges will open to help host events as part of a series called the Summertime Fling Festival.

This festival will feature three weeks of wine, food and fun.

The Macedon Ranges Vignerons Association is running the event to encourage wine and food lovers to take a well-earned break from 2020 and share in the fun, scenic spaces while following COVID protocol.

This is a great opportunity to reconnect with friends, family and the community in an easily accessible, central location - that also happens to be stunningly picturesque.

AUSTRALIAN NPC DISEASE FOUNDATION INC. FUNDRAISER

Enjoy performances by many local talents all while raising money for the Australian NPC Disease Foundation Inc.

Peter Sheahan's Walk Ups have been raising money for various foundations for over 10 years.

This event will include all kinds of music, poetry, yarns, country, rock and blues.

There will be performances from Kevin Moore, Peter Sheahan, Leigh Bice, Rod Briant, Annette Sharp, Floreena Forbes, Olive Bice, Ken Jones and many, many more.

This event will also include a raffle, lucky door prizes and afternoon tea.

ARTIST TALK

Join in for this artist talk at the local gallery, with Prue Venables who will discuss her current works on display.

Venables is an acclaimed Australian ceramicist whose major body of work is on a touring exhibition, currently in Bendigo.

The works showcase importance of every day objects through forms in porcelain, with metal and wood.

Summer in the Parks and City of Greater Bendigo are proud to present their free outdoor movie, Dolittle.

STAR CINEMA BOOK CLUB

The Star Cinema and Goldfields Libraries are proud to present the Star Cinema Book Club with the film, Jindabyne.

Jindabyne is rated M and is a crime drama based around a group of men who take a fishing trip to Lake Jindabyne where they delay reporting the discovery of a murdered woman's body.

This film is based on the short story, So Much Water So Close to Home by Raymond Carver.

SKATE PARK COMPETITION

Head to the Castlemaine Skatepark this weekend and compete in skateboard, scooter or BMX events.

This day event will also include a barbecue and a parkour workshop.

These competitions are focused around bringing community members together and celebrating skate park culture.

All competitors will go in the draw to win a raffled prize.

This event is for those aged up to 16.

MASTERS WATER SKI CHAMPIONSHIPS

Hosted over three days, this event will showcase the best skiers in the country and include all age groups from 11 to over 65.

There will also be the top national open men and women skiers.

BENDIGO PARKRUN

Get back into the swing of things after the COVID-19 break and enjoy a 5km timed run, jog or walk this weekend.

The parkrun is not a race against others, but a fun event out or great for part of a training plan.

EXHIBITIONS

IMMERSION 20/20

Immersion 20/20 is an art exhibition of original paintings by local artist, Kerry L Brown.

These works will feature mid-century inspired interiors and abstract landscapes with reflection of the year that was 2020.

CLOSE TO HOME

Last year was a year like no other and this exhibition, with works by Janet Neilson and Penny Peckham, showcases all that was 2020.

Peckham and Neilson's shared artistic interests brought them together during the COVID-19 pandemic and ended up in them creating linoprints, monoprints, paper works, stamping and much more.

Inspiration has been drawn from the daily activities that were taking place during the pandemic, books that were read, gardening and more.

TABLE MATTERS

Ceramists Sharon Alpren, Cassie Hansen and Emma Jimson have come together to showcase their exhibition Table Matters.

This exhibition celebrates the art of dining and features a floral installation from Libertine Florists.

ART COLLECTION

In addition to the regular exhibitions that the Central Goldfields Art Gallery has, there will also be pop-up exhibitions throughout the new year.
