Club selects Team of Decade from Bendigo Diggers' and Bombers' finest

JUST who have been the finest contributors in the 10-year history of the Bendigo Diggers-Bombers football club will be unveiled next weekend.Bendigo’s rivalry round clash with the North Ballarat Roosters on Sunday, June 20, at the QEO will be followed by the announcement of the club’s Team of the Decade.Selection is not just limited to players, as the efforts of coaches, trainers, property stewards and administrative staff will be acknowledged.The Diggers-Bombers have endured many highs and lows since 1998.The Team of the Decade is a way of recognising the contribution of many to the club, whether it be on-field or off-field.Some of the players from the Diggers early years, such as Nick Carter and Clint Whitsed have kicked on to now be coaching in the Bendigo Bank Football Netball League at Golden Square and Strathfieldsaye Storm respectively.Former Diggers and Bombers’ player Daniel Schmidt returned to the club this season as a development coach.All past players, coaches, property stewards, runners, trainers, support staff and all who have been involved with the Diggers and Bombers are invited to the Team of the Decade function and reunion.Tickets are $35 per person and include entry to the Bombers and Roosters clash, plus cocktail food at the after-match function.The tickets to the 10-year reunion are available at www.bendigobombers.com or phone the Bombers’ office on 5444 1737.In this weekend’s ninth round of the VFL season, Bendigo takes on Box Hill Hawks on Sunday.
