UNIVERSITY'S Brian Watson charged to an impressive victory in the latest round of the Tuesday Night Series for athletes run by Flack Advisory Services Group-backed Athletics Bendigo Region. A field of seven contested the 3000m race at the Flora Hill track in Retreat Road. Watson achieved a fine time of 10 minutes 37.89 seconds in the seven and a half lap race as the consistent Mychael Baker, from Bendigo Harriers, was runner-up in 10:59.66. Harriers' club-mate Yvette Palmer was fastest female, 12:38.30, and third overall. Next best were Bendigo Harriers' Eric Baker, 13:49.01; Eaglehawk's Casey Crapper, 14:09.86; and Ross Douglas, 14:55.51, from Bendigo University. Because of the Zatopek meet at Box Hill, there will be no racing at Flora Hill next Tuesday night.
