There were plenty of highlights in the fifth round of Athletics Victoria Shield League at the Flora Hill complex.
South Bendigo veteran Joan Self kicked off the record spree when she completed the 300m hurdles in 1:12.97, a 60-plus record.
One of South's young stars, Taryn Furletti broke the open and under-20 record as she took out the 3000m steeplechase in 11 minutes 20.88 seconds.
The record-breaking run for South Bendigo rolled on as Carol Coad, Jackie Guillou, Joan Self and Debbie Kirne joined forces to run the 4 x 100m relay in 69.20 seconds, a new mark for the 50-plus class.
Eaglehawk's Kathryn Heagney set 70-plus records for discus, 13.67m; and the 2000m steeplechase, 11:45.21.
The meet drew 87 competitors as many continued their lead-up to the AV country championships to be run at Ballarat's Llanberris Reserve in York Street from next Friday until Sunday.
Among the many highlights at Saturday's meet in Bendigo were marks of 43.71m and 34.05m by Eaglehawk clubmates Olivia Graham and Claire Noonan at hammer throw.
Another of the Hawks' rising stars, Hunter Staples cleared 1.75 metres at high jump in the blustery and cool conditions.
Pole vault ace Geoff Shaw from Bendigo Harriers cleared 2.60m.
At 72-years-young, Shaw showed he will be tough to beat at the country titles.
In the 200m showdowns, Abbey Conquer from Bendigo Harriers was fastest of the women in 27.09 from clubmate Caitlin Evans, 27.84, and Sally Conroy Memorial winner Laura Kadri from Eaglehawk AC on 27.87.
Eaglehawk's James Bentley kicked off another fine meet as he won his 200m in 23.28 and later followed up with an 800m victory in 2:10.92.
Discus flights marked the return of University's Anthony Messerle, 35.50m, as Harriers' young gun Jake Gavriladis, 51.16m, clubmate Lewis Cain, 38.12m, and Emma Peters from Athletics Chilwell, 33.52m, led the way.
Angus McKindlay from Eaglehawk AC won the second of the 400m hurdles heats in a slick 59.58.
