BENDIGO motorcyclist Michael Burgess has moved a further spot up the Dakar rally rankings following a 26th place finish in Wednesday's 10th stage at Neom.

Burgess, who is representing the Swiss-based team Nomad Racing, started the day in 30th overall, but ended it in 29th place after another creditable performance on the bike.
The stage was marred by a crash involving rally leader Jose Ignacio Cornejo Florimo, who was forced to withdraw from the event.
That allowed Argentinian Kevin Benavides to claim the overall lead after he finished the stage in third position.
Wednesday's stage was won by American Ricky Brabec, who sits 51 seconds behind Benavides in second place, with two days of racing remaining in the world famous rally.
Cornejo Florimo was the second big name to exit the race in as many days following a crash which ended Australian Toby Price's bid for a third Dakar crown.
Price was in second place at the time of his withdrawal.
Thursday's 11th stage will be contested over a distance of 583km.
