Wednesday has been declared a total fire ban day in parts of central Victoria, including Bendigo.
The Northern Country, Wimmera and Mallee forecast districts are all subject to the total fire ban, with the fire danger forecast as severe.
Other parts of central Victoria have a very high fire danger forecast.
Partial extreme heat timetables will operate on the Bendigo, Swan Hill and Echuca V/Line lines on Wednesday.
The timetables can be found at the V/Line website.
Earlier
Tuesday has brought slightly milder weather to central Victoria, but the region is set for another hot day come Wednesday.
The mercury hit 37.3 degrees in Bendigo on Monday, but a cold front that moved across the state overnight brought the temperature down a little, with the city expected to reach a top of 32 on Tuesday.
However, Bureau of Meteorology senior forecaster Chris Arvier said the state would see another very hot day on Wednesday.
"The northerly winds will resume somewhat, which will drag some of that hot continental air back over southern Victoria," Mr Arvier said.
The windy conditions would also result in increased fire danger, he said.
The forecast fire danger for the Northern Country district, which encompasses Bendigo and Echuca, is severe for Wednesday, while it will be very high for the North Central and Central districts, which include Maryborough, Castlemaine and Kyneton.

On Wednesday, Bendigo is forecast to reach 38 degrees, Echuca 40, Maryborough 36, Castlemaine 35, and Kyneton 34.
But a change is expected to move through overnight on Wednesday, into Thursday.
"From Thursday onwards, we'll enter a very stable weather pattern, and it looks like we'll have pretty mild conditions right across the state, from Thursday into the weekend," Mr Arvier said.
Bendigo's daytime temperatures are expected to drop into the mid to high-20s from Thursday and across the weekend.
