STRATHFIELDSAYE v WHITE HILLS
12.30pm Saturday at QEO.
The two teams that fought out the BDCA's first match decided by a "super over" lock horns again at the QEO.
Earlier this season the Demons beat the Jets in a "super over" in round two. At that stage White Hills was 2-0 and Strathfieldsaye 0-2.
However, in the eight games since the Jets have five wins, two draws and one loss to be perched in third position, while the Demons have added just two wins and are six points outside the top four.
It will be a historic day for the Demons, with class batsman Gavin Bowles surpassing Glenn Roulston to become White Hills' first XI games record-holder with 214 in a career that began as a 16-year-old in 1999-2000.
Bowles will break the Demons' club record against the team in which he also has his highest score - 165 n.o. in round two of 2017-18.
Must-win for the Demons, who run the risk of dropping 12 points outside the top four if beaten, while a win for the Jets - who have opener Nayana Fernando coming off a ton (119) last week - would give them a potential 15 point buffer inside the four.
Last time: White Hills 5-188 & 1-8 def Strathfieldsaye 188 & 0-7 (super over).
Since 2000: White Hills 16; Strathfieldsaye 11.
THE TEAMS:
Strathfieldsaye - Ben Devanny (c), Stuart Payne, Pat Felmingham, Jack Stubbs, Jed Rodda, Callum McCarty, Nayana Fernando, Mitchell Cheesman, Darcy Hunter, Zoltan Smyth, Savith Priyan.
White Hills - Mitch Winter-Irving (c), Caleb Barras, Tyrone Muir, Tom Dunham, Linc Jacobs, Gavin Bowles, Jayden Sheean, Rhys Irwin, Ollie Geary, Nicholas Wharton, Nicholas Wallace.
EAGLEHAWK v HUNTLY-NORTH EPSOM
12.30pm Saturday at Canterbury Park.
Bitter pill to swallow for Eaglehawk last week losing to Golden Square by two runs and now have to come up against their nemesis of recent years in the Power.
The Power have beaten the Hawks six consecutive times, including by three wickets in their round two encounter earlier in the season.
Very much a crunch game for the Hawks and their finals hopes given a loss at home will drop them 15 points behind the fourth-placed Power, who have strengthened up their attack further with the addition last week of former Victorian second XI player Peter Manser.
Last time: Huntly-North Epsom 7-115 def Eaglehawk 113.
Since 2000: Eaglehawk 19; Huntly-North Epsom 7; Tied 1.
THE TEAMS:
Eaglehawk - Cory Jacobs (c), Josh Williams, Aaron Monro, Richard Tibbett, Anthony West, Nash Viney, Ben Williams, Nick Farley, Angus Chisholm, Russell Stockdale, Brendan Archbold.
Huntly-North Epsom - Elliott Massina (c), Peter Manser, Adam Ward, Ryan Grundy, Danushka Wijemanna, Brett Elvey, Malan Madusanka, Sandun Ranathunga, Tharindu Darshana, Supun Devinda, Thusith Alboruge.
KANGAROO FLAT v GOLDEN SQUARE
12.30pm Saturday at Dower Park.
Golden Square will go in as underdogs, but it will take some confidence into its clash with the Roos.
Not only did they compete well with the Roos earlier in the season, but they have now won two of their past three games, including a gritty victory against Eaglehawk last week by two runs when - as captain Liam Smith put it - Square looked "buggered" when the Hawks needed just 20 runs with four wickets in hand.
Smith is leading a young Square side that is building, while the Roos have been through that and are now in "win now" mode as far as flag contention.
Highlighting the strength of their attack is they now have Brent Hamblin, Adam Burns and Lewis Stabler who have all taken five-wicket hauls this season, while a huge positive last week was the form of key batsman Jake Klemm, who made 87 in their win over Sandhurst.
Last time: Kangaroo Flat 7-142 def Golden Square 8-141.
Since 2000: Golden Square 15; Kangaroo Flat 12; Tied 1.
THE TEAMS:
Kangaroo Flat - Chris Barber (c), Adam Burns, Kenny Beith, Brent Hamblin, Jake Klemm, Dylan Klemm, Josh Collinson, Riley Burns, Matt Dwyer, Lewis Stabler, Ryan Harling.
Golden Square - Liam Smith (c), Jake Higgins, Max Grant, Callum Tibbett, Scott Trollope, Kayle Thompson, Tom Campbell, Benjamin Derrick, Jack Keating, Riley Hocking, Connor Miller.
STRATHDALE-MARISTIANS v BENDIGO
12.30pm Saturday at Bell Oval.
The Suns are sitting pretty undefeated at the top of the ladder and now welcome back six-time premiership player Ryan Haythorpe into their attack for his first A Grade game of the season.
Veteran Haythorpe missed the start of the season with a calf injury, but has seven games under his belt in the second XI.
Haythorpe rejoins a Suns' side that has four players feature in the top 10 of the Addy MVP rankings - Cameron Taylor (No.5), James Vlaeminck (No.6), Sam Johnston (No.7) and Grant Waldron (No.8).
The leader of the MVP rankings is Bendigo's Kyle Humphrys, who is also the top run-scorer in the competition with 478 at an average of 68.2.
Can the Goers get their batting and bowling to click on the same day to take it up to the Suns? That's their challenge.
Last time: Strathdale-Maristians 7-270 def Bendigo 117.
Since 2000: Strathdale-Maristians 28; Bendigo 3.
THE TEAMS:
Strathdale-Maristians - Ben DeAraugo (c), Cameron Taylor, Grant Waldron, Linton Jacobs, Jack Neylon, Jacob DeAraugo, Sam Johnston, Daniel Clohesy, Chris Sole, James Vlaeminck, Ryan Haythorpe.
Bendigo - Nathan Fitzpatrick (c), Kyle Humphrys, Shane Koop, Dylan Johnstone, Bailey George, Craig Pearce, Declan Slingo, Xav Ryan, Joel Bothe, Scott Dole, Matthew Gray.
BENDIGO UNITED v SANDHURST
12.30pm Saturday at Harry Trott Oval.
For the past three years and again this season the rebuilding Redbacks have spent the bulk of it stuck on the bottom of the ladder.
However, Saturday presents a chance to get off it when they host ninth-placed Sandhurst.
Both sides are on 15 points, with the winner to move a game clear of the bottom rung.
The Redbacks have the better formline behind them, going into the clash off the back of consecutive wins over Bendigo and White Hills, while the Dragons - despite captain Joel Murphy being second in the competition for runs with 444 - are struggling having not tasted victory since November 22 against Bendigo.
Last time: Sandhurst 8-219 def Bendigo United 140.
Since 2000: Bendigo United 17; Sandhurst 7.
THE TEAMS:
Bendigo United - Miggy Podosky (c), Josh Thurston, Ashley Younghusband, Jayden Templeton, Riley Treloar, Harry Donegan, Tom Batters, Billy Quirk, Ben Daley, Jake Thrum, Scott Harper.
Sandhurst - Joel Murphy (c), Nathan Walsh, Shane Robinson, Dylan Gibson, Will Keck, Alec Robson, Anthony McMahon, Jasper Langley, Braydon Vaz, Reilley Porter, Will Gadsden.
