Back in October, the Moama Water Sports Club decided to cancel the February event and plan for 2022.
But early last month, with state borders reopened, Ski Racing Australia floated the possibility of a mini-season with 10 events, including the Southern 80.

It proposed that the Southern 80 be held April 16 to 18.
But in a statement to members, Ski Racing Australia chief executive officer Cam McConville said the outbreak meant the mini season could not become reality.
"Despite COVID numbers continuing to fall, the uncertainty the recent outbreak has caused to our event holders, event sponsors and you the members, it is unrealistic to continue investing time and money into what seems like an unwinnable situation," Mr McConville said.
