Police were called about an erratic driver on the McIvor Highway at Longlea about 2.30pm on Sunday.
Sergeant Patrick Grelis, of the Central Victoria Response Unit, said police attempted to intercept the vehicle.
But the small black Nissan hatchback failed to stop and continued travelling eastbound towards Axedale.
Stop sticks were deployed, deflating three of the vehicle's tyres.
Sergeant Grelis said the Nissan did a u-turn and continued towards Bendigo.
It then collided with the rear of a police vehicle.
The driver was taken into police custody.
Sergeant Grelis said there were no injuries.
The events took place over the course of about half an hour.
The Central Victoria Response Unit is seeking information about the offending vehicle.
Sergeant Grelis urged anyone with information or dash cam footage to contact the Bendigo Police Station on 5448 1300 or to make an anonymous report to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
