Tyler Beacham, 25, appeared in the Bendigo Magistrates' Court on Monday. He has been charged with one count of armed robbery.

Court documents obtained by the Bendigo Advertiser alleged Mr Beacham entered the Eaglehawk Road service station on Sunday evening with a kitchen knife tucked into his pants.

Police said Mr Beacham walked up to the counter where the sole shop attendant was working.

After the worker asked what he was paying for, Mr Beacham allegedly removed the knife from his pants and demanded cash from the till.

The worker complied and Mr Beacham allegedly left the store with about $200 in cash. He left the knife on the counter.

The alleged incident was captured on CCTV footage.

Court documents said two witnesses saw the alleged incident and followed Mr Beacham in their car.

Police alleged the vehicle Mr Beacham was travelling in then collided with the witnesses' car.

Mr Beacham was arrested a short time later and police charged him on Monday morning.

He appeared before the Bendigo Magistrates' Court via video link but did not apply for bail.

Mr Beacham's defence lawyer Nicholas Rolfe told the court it was the 25-year-old's first time in custody.

Mr Rolfe also said Mr Beacham had post traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, and depression, and his client was withdrawing from the drugs heroin and ice.

Mr Beacham was remanded in custody. He is due to return to the Bendigo Magistrates' Court in March next year.
