A COVID-19 cluster associated with Sydney's Northern Beaches has grown to 28 cases, from 17 on Thursday night.
Victorian health authorities mandated testing from midnight Thurday for anyone entering the state who has been in the Northern Beaches since December.
NSW health authorities have announced the strain of the cluster appears to be American in origin, based on genome sequencing.

Anyone who attended the Avalon RSL on December 11 or the Avalon Bowlo on December 13 has been urged to get tested for COVID-19.

VICTORIA has remained free from community transmission of COVID-19, despite a growing cluster in NSW.
Victorian health authorities reported just one new virus case on Friday, acquired overseas and contained to hotel quarantine.
In NSW, 17 cases had been linked to an outbreak in Sydney's Northern Beaches by Thursday night.
Testing and quarantine has been made mandatory for any travellers to Victoria who have visited the area, or other high risk locations since December 11.
Those already in Victoria have been urged to get a test then remain at home, or in their accommodation.
Friday marked Victoria's 49th day without any cases of community transmission reported.
A total of eight cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the state's rebooted hotel quarantine.
Victorian health authorities received a total 7570 test results in the day to Friday.
On Thursday Premier Daniel Andrews urged anyone in Victoria with potential symptoms to get tested, saying low levels of cold and flu in the community meant there was a good chance they had COVID-19.

A cluster of COVID-19 cases in Sydney centred on the Northern Beaches had reached 17 cases by Thursday night, after extensive testing.
Health authorities have flagged further announcements on Friday for travellers arriving in Victoria from these sites, in effect after midnight Saturday December 19.
Victorian health authorities have urged anyone who visited Sydney's Northern Beaches, or other exposure sites, since December 11 to take a test then quarantine in their home or accommodation for 14 days after the date they left the site.
Mandatory testing and quarantine for anyone entering Victoria who had been in the Northern Beaches or other NSW exposure sites was introduced at midnight on Thursday.
The Department of Health and Human Services said these people must quarantine in their home or accommodation for 14 days after they left the Northern Beaches, in a statement issued about 1am on Friday.
DHHS will be conducting spot checks on flights arriving from Sydney to remind passengers from exposure sites to get tested immediately, then self-isolate.
Anyone from NSW currently in Victoria who has even the slightest symptoms has been urged to get tested immediately.
DHHS said anyone believing they may have been exposed to COVID-19, or who had been to those locations, should also contact it at 1800 675 398.
