The Central Goldfields Shire Council has locked in dates for Australia's largest STEM event, which will be staged from November 17 - 21.
It comes after the COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of what would have been the 30th anniversary event, this year.
The shire council says plans for the event are "well underway."
Teams can start entering as soon as March 16, depending on the category.
Energy Breakthrough Committee chair and Central Goldfields Shire Councillor Liesbeth Long is confident next year's event will be one of the best yet.
"Our sponsors and schools are ready to go and we recently received $1.5 million from the state government's Regional Investment Fund, which will significantly boost the experience for all our students, teams and schools," Cr Long says.
The Energy Breakthrough draws about 23,000 visitors to the Central Goldfields shire and injects almost $5 million into the local economy.
Central Goldfields mayor Chris Meddows-Taylor says the Energy Breakthrough is the shire's largest and most important tourism event, and is always highly anticipated.
"We look forward to welcoming back previous participants, teams and schools as well as those who may be new to Energy Breakthrough," Cr Meddows-Taylor says.
Transurban, La Trobe University and Regional Roads Victoria are among the event's partner sponsors.
