The World Heritage bid is a partnership between 13 local governments - including City of Greater Bendigo, Mount Alexander, Loddon, Macedon Ranges, Central Goldfields and Campaspe shires - that began in 2017 but has gained more momentum in the past 18 months.
If successful it would give the Central Victorian Goldields a UNESCO World Heritage Listing.

The new website - www.goldfieldsworldheritage.com.au - is funded by the Victorian Goldfields Tourism Executive.
It provides information on the world heritage bid as well as details and stories of places in the Goldfields area.
City of Greater Bendigo mayor Jennifer Alden said the listing would be another string to Bendigo's bow along its inclusion on the UNESCO CreativeCities list.
"Bendigo and Ballarat are also already UNESCO Creative Cities, with Bendigo being a City of Gastronomy and Ballarat a City of Craft and Folk Art," she said. "This listing would be another string to our bow in attracting more tourists to stay, enjoy and learn about the goldfields region.
"The website is a great platform to highlight the importance of this bid. The Central Victorian Goldfields' famous history needs to be celebrated and shared with the world.
"The City of Greater Bendigo and City of Ballarat are very pleased to be leading this initiative, particularly as there are many benefits of achieving UNESCO World Heritage Listing in driving a post-COVID-19 economic recovery."

VGTE chair and Central Goldfields Shire mayor Chris Meddows-Taylor said the website would help build excitement around the bid.
"The exciting feature of this massively transformative project is not only the huge impact it will have both on local and cross-regional visitor economies, but the positive contribution to regional regeneration, prosperity and opportunity," he said.
"Importantly the journey starts right now as we build the excitement of people to visit and discover the proposed World Heritage landscape and in doing so creating a much-needed boost to industry in the COVID recovery period."
