A BENDIGO builder is rapt after his business took out a region-wide award for a Golden Square renovation.

Elite Renovations & Extensions received the northern Victoria award for the renovation or addition project of the year from the Housing Industry Association.
Business owner Michael Roberts said he was absolutely elated to see the unique renovation of the early 20th century weatherboard home receive recognition.

It was the first home the business has ever entered in the HIA awards.
Mr Roberts said the home's quality meant he had been quietly confident before the awards. He said the clients' brief was for high detail, with high quality fixtures and fittings.
"You don't always get an opportunity to build them to that standard, obviously budget requirements you can't always get them to that stunning level you want," Mr Roberts said.
"The owners were fantastic to deal with, just a lovely family.
"When it's all done to that level, it really does pop. Everything comes together."

The business will go on to the statewide awards next week.
Two other Bendigo businesses were recognised in the northern Victoria awards.
Sandhurst Housing & Design received two awards, one for a custom built home ranging from $350,001 to $500,000, the other for a display home up to $250,000.
Jason Wescott Builders received the award for a customer built home between $500,001 and $750,000, the other for a renovation or addition project over $500,001.
