The Midland Highway was closed for almost an hour this afternoon after rail equipment malfunctioned. A V/Line spokesperson confirmed the Midland Highway at Bagshot was closed for almost an hour between 3.30pm and 4.30pm. The boomgates were down for between 40 and 60 minutes after a rail equipment fault. More news When the fault was detected, the crossing activated its fail safe and lowered the gates. V/Line crews arrived on scene quickly to repair the fault. Victoria Police were also called to the scene to control traffic and direct drivers to detours. No train services were delayed as a result of the fault. "We thank road users for their patience while we worked to reopen the Midland Highway level crossing in Bagshot as quickly and safely as possible following an equipment fault," the spokesperson said.
