Residents who adorn their homes during December with a stunning Christmas lights display have the chance to win one of three great prizes from Hume & Iser Mitre 10.

The winner of the most popular lights display, as voted for by Bendigo Addy readers, will win a $350 voucher to Mitre 10. First and second runners-up will receive a $140 voucher and a $100 voucher respectively.
Bendigo Advertiser editor Peter Kennedy hopes the community will get behind the initiative and share some positive Christmas spirit after a tough year for everyone.

"Bringing back the Christmas lights competition is one way to help more families enjoy a bit more of the Christmas season, and we're grateful to Hume & Iser Mitre 10 for backing the event."
Hume & Iser Mitre 10 managing director Stephen Iser said his business was thrilled to be involved.
"The year we've had with coronavirus has been horrendous, so being able to bring some cheer to people is fantastic," he said.
"Of any year, this is probably the most important year to celebrate together."
Competition for businesses
The business community also has the chance to showcase its Christmas spirit, as part of the Be.Bendigo-supported Bendigo Advertiser Christmas decorations competition for traders.
Throughout December, business owners can get into the festive spirit and decorate their premises with Christmas-themed elements that also promote community spirit and goodwill.

Having endured some of the toughest trading seasons and most difficult years in living memory, December is a chance to make up for much of the hardship of 2020 with one final push leading into Christmas.
Businesses will be in the running to win a Bendigo Advertiser half-page voucher valued at $1500, with three complimentary Be.Bendigo memberships available to runners-up.

Enter by noon on Friday, December 11 to be included in the competition. Voting will open on Saturday, December 12. Winners of both competitions will be announced on Monday, December 21.
The Bendigo Advertiser will publish and continually update a map of houses online throughout December. The map will be published in print in the Bendigo Advertiser on Saturday, December 12.
