The Villawood Properties Bendigo Spirit head into their clash against the UC Capitals on Saturday night filled with confidence.
The Spirit remain without a win this season (0-7) and sit on the bottom of the ladder, but in their last game on Wednesday night against the Adelaide Lightning they showed they are a formidable squad.
Spirit head coach Tracy York praised the team's effort against the Lightning.
"The girls responded in true Spirit fashion," she said to the WNBL.
"Yes, they fell just short but also showed sticking to the process and game plan reaped good rewards.
"Tessa Lavey was inspirational and Demi Skinner found her touch off the bench.
"There was a lot to like about the girls' effort."
The Spirit and Canberra have met once so far this season, in round two where the Capitals won with a 20-point advantage.
The Capitals are currently on top of the ladder with a 6-1 record, with the team's only loss to the Lightning by 12 points in the 2020 WNBL season opening match.
