THE 16-year-old boy is in a stable condition at the Ballarat hospital.

Police are investigating the cause of a motorcycle crash in Maryborough that result in the rider being airlifted to hospital.
Central Goldfields Highway Patrol Acting Sergeant Craig Walker said the 16-year-old male rider came off his bike on Wright Street at 4.15pm.
"He collided with a fence and as result of the collision has been airlifted to hospital with multiple injuries and suspected fractures," Acting Sergeant Walker said.

"The crash is still under investigation but it looks like rider error. Speed and rider iexperience were probably involved."
Emergency services remained on scene for about 50 minutes while the rider was stablised and taken to Maryborough airfield to transported to hospital.
