EAGLEHAWK v STRATHDALE-MARISTIANS
4pm Saturday at Canterbury Park.
Some history being made at Canterbury Park on Saturday, with the ground to host its first BDCA day-night match.
Hitting off at 4pm, it's a huge challenge at home for the young Hawks taking on the benchmark of the competition in the Suns, who are undefeated.
Grant Waldron continues to set the BDCA alight with the bat, with the Suns' No.3 now boasting an extraordinary average of 325 from five innings, while there was no better example of their batting depth than last week when from 8-83 chasing Golden Square's 6-147 they found a way to win.
Encapsulating the Suns' envious batting depth is that No.11 Chris Sole, who hit the winning runs, is an international No.8 for Scotland.
The Hawks are sitting in the top four after gaining nine of a possible 12 points with a win and a draw from their double-header weekend.
Shapes as an interesting battle between bat and ball given the Hawks have the competition's best economy rate of just 2.83 runs per over going up against the most aggressive batting side, with the Suns' run-rate of 5.58 per over ranked No.1.
Who will shine brightest under the Canterbury Park lights for the first time?
Last time: Strathdale-Maristians 3-168 def Eaglehawk 165.
Since 2000: Strathdale-Maristians 22; Eaglehawk 9; Tied 1.
THE TEAMS:
Eaglehawk - Cory Jacobs (c), Aaron Monro, Richard Tibbett, Anthony West, Nash Viney, Ben Williams, Nicholas Farley, Angus Chisholm, Russell Stockdale, Brendan Archbold, Sam Williams.
Strathdale-Maristians - Ben DeAraugo (c), Cameron Taylor, Grant Waldron, Linton Jacobs, Jack Neylon, Sam Johnston, Daniel Clohesy, James Barri, Chris Sole, James Vlaeminck, Will Gilmore, Jacob DeAraugo.
KANGAROO FLAT v STRATHFIELDSAYE
12.30pm Saturday at Dower Park.
For so long the word "potential" has been bandied around Kangaroo Flat, but it just hasn't clicked and as such, the club still only has one finals appearance in the past 12 years.
This season though it looks to be finally coming all together for the Roos, who along with Strathdale-Maristians boast an unblemished 5-0 record.
And they have done it having had to chase in every game so far, with the Roos yet to bat first and set a total.
Strathfieldsaye has also had plenty of experience chasing, with skipper Ben Devanny the only captain still to win a toss.
The first chance the Jets had to bat first was last Sunday against Eaglehawk, but their innings only lasted 21 balls before being washed out.
You'd think the Jets would be keen to see off Brent Hamblin without too much damage inflicted by the Roos' quick, who is coming a brilliant 11-13 last weekend.
Last time: Kangaroo Flat 2-91 def Strathfieldsaye 89.
Since 2000: Strathfieldsaye 15; Kangaroo Flat 14.
THE TEAMS:
Kangaroo Flat - Chris Barber (c), Adam Burns, Kenny Beith, Brent Hamblin, Jake Klemm, Dylan Klemm, Nathan Newlan, Daniel Barber, Josh Collinson, Ryan Harling, Lewis Stabler.
Strathfieldsaye - Ben Devanny (c), Pat Felmingham, Jack Stubbs, Jed Rodda, Callum McCarty, Nayana Palamandadige, Darcy Hunter, Zoltan Smyth, Savith Priyan, Chathura Damith, Mitchell Cheesman.
HUNTLY-NORTH EPSOM v BENDIGO UNITED
12.30pm Saturday at Strauch Reserve.
Can the battling Bendigo United dig in and make a game of it at Huntly, where the Power have become notoriously tough to beat in recent years - although, they were defeated by Kangaroo Flat at home last week.
Hopefully, Redbacks' coach Paul Miller and captain Miggy Podsoky have been able to find a way to instill some confidence back into the Bendigo United batsmen this week off the back of being skittled for 98 by Eaglehawk and 64 by Kangaroo Flat in last week's double-header.
The Power are one of only two teams, along with Strathdale-Maristians, that have four players who have cracked the 100-run mark - Ryan Grundy (171), Adam Ward (118), Elliott Massina (118) and Danushka Wijemanna (111).
The Power should be far too strong.
Last time: Huntly-North Epsom 9-114 def Bendigo United 8-110.
Since 2000: Bendigo United 19; Huntly-North Epsom 5.
THE TEAMS:
Huntly-North Epsom - Elliott Massina (c), Adam Ward, Jarrod Harris, Ryan Grundy, Danushka Wijemanna, Brett Elvey, Malan Madusanka, Ethan Oaten, Shiran Thiwanka Kulathunga, Sandun Ranathunga, Thusith Alboruge, Supun Devinda.
Bendigo United - Miggy Podosky (c), Josh Thurston, Ashley Younghusband, Riley Treloar, Nicholas Williamson, Tom Batters, Billy Quirk, Ben Daley, Jake Thrum, Scott Harper, Jiwon Choi.
BENDIGO v GOLDEN SQUARE
12.30pm Saturday at QEO.
Both teams would have had a restless Sunday night lamenting one that got away on day two of the BDCA double-header last weekend.
Bendigo was beaten on the last ball of its match against Sandhurst; while Golden Square lost to Strathdale-Maristians by one wicket.
At least for the Goers they had beaten White Hills the previous day, but the Bulldogs' 0-2 record for the weekend saw them drift nine points off the top four.
Despite the Bulldogs languishing with a 1-4 record, they have the top two players in the Addy MVP in Scott Trollope (423 points) and Liam Smith (386).
For the Goers, Kyle Humphrys is in good touch with the bat, averaging 51.2., while Dylan Johnstone (10) is now among the competition's leading wicket-takers following his five-for against White Hills last Saturday.
Last time: Bendigo 5-205 def Golden Square 192.
Since 2000: Golden Square 15; Bendigo 11.
THE TEAMS:
Bendigo - Nathan Fitzpatrick (c), Kyle Humphrys, Shane Koop, Dylan Johnstone, Jotham Higgs, Declan Slingo, Noah Begg, Xav Ryan, Craig Pearce, Joel Bothe, William Collicoat.
Golden Square - Liam Smith (c), Corey Van Aken, Scott Johnson, Max Grant, Scott Trollope, Tom Campbell, Jack Keating, Riley Hocking, Cameron Blencowe, Mitchell Kemp, Connor Miller.
WHITE HILLS v SANDHURST
12.30pm Saturday at Scott Street.
Huge game for the Demons and Dragons.
With both teams having 2-3 records this match presents the chance for one to get their season back on an even keel at 3-3, while for the loser they will have plenty of work to do at 2-4.
Since starting their season with back-to-back wins White Hills have lost their past three games, having managed no more than 158 in all three losses.
While the Demons are battling with the bat, Caleb Barass is impressing, with his 255 runs second only in the competition to Waldron's 325 for the Suns.
Last time: White Hills 8-68 def Sandhurst 67.
Since 2000: White Hills 16; Sandhurst 8.
THE TEAMS:
White Hills - Mitch Winter-Irving (c), Caleb Barras, Tyrone Muir, Linc Jacobs, Gavin Bowles, Jayden Sheean, Rhys Irwin, Hamish Richards, Nicholas Wallace, Tom Dunham, Dylan Bailie.
Sandhurst - Joel Murphy (c), Ash Gray, Dylan Gibson, Ben Leed, Anthony McMahon, Kayde Howard, Reilley Porter, Will Gadsden, Caelan Smith, Jack Ryan, Nahid Hossain.
