SMOKE might be in the air near St Arnaud, with a fuel reduction burn planned in the week from Saturday.
Forest Fire Management Victoria and the Country Fire Authority intend to conduct a 10-hectare burn along St Arnaud - Wattle Street, a kilometre west of St Arnaud.
The burn should be completed between 10am on Saturday, November 21, and 8pm on Sunday, November 29.
Authorities expect smoke could be visible until Wednesday, December 2.
They advised residents nearby to close windows and doors to prevent smoke from entering.
"Road travel might be hazardous due to low visibility associated with smoke," an alert said.
Motorists have been urged to obey all traffic sighs and instructions from fire agency crews near the burn.
In the event of symptoms related to smoke exposure, the Department of Health and Human Services has recommended people seek medical advice or contact the Nurse on Call on 1300 60 60 24.
