STRATHDALE-Maristians and Kangaroo Flat are living up to their pre-season billing as the two leading contenders in the Bendigo District Cricket Association.
After three rounds the Suns and Roos are the only undefeated teams.
The Suns (3-161) handed White Hills (7-158) their first loss of the season, outplaying the Demons at Bell Oval to win by seven wickets on Saturday.
The Suns' win was spearheaded by another unbeaten knock from Grant Waldron (69 n.o.), with the competition's leading run-scorer now having 214 from three innings without being dismissed.
At Dower Park, Kangaroo Flat (4-135) improved to 3-0 with a six-wicket win over Eaglehawk (9-133).
The Roos' victory was highlighted by a maiden half-century to Ryan Harling (50 n.o.) in just his second first XI innings.
The standout individual performance of the round came at Harry Trott Oval where gun all-rounder Scott Trollope helped seal Golden Square's first win.
Trollope made 49 and then took 6-10 off nine overs as Square (6-189) belted Bendigo United (114) by 75 runs, leaving the Redbacks as the only team without a win.
Strathfieldsaye (5-168) won its first game, beating Sandhurst (9-167) by five wickets in a game that went down to the last over.
And Huntly-North Epsom (8-212) beat Bendigo (148) by 64 runs at the QEO.
