A man charged with sexual offences against a child under the age of 16 in Ballarat has pleaded guilty.

Obiyo Chigozie Nwigwe appeared at the Ballarat Magistrates' Court on Thursday for a committal mention.
The 43-year-old man pleaded guilty to five offences relating to the same child complainant aged under 16.
The offences, which occurred in March, include sexual assault, sexual penetration and using a carriage service to transmit indecent communication.

A plea hearing was set down for January 21 at the County Court in Ballarat.
Nwigwe pleaded not guilty to 15 charges, which include child sexual offences against a second child. The charges include grooming, sexual assault and sexual penetration of a child.
A directions hearing will be held on January 21 at the County Court in Ballarat.
Nwigwe's bail was extended with the conditions he not attend international points of departure and not contact prosecution witnesses.
