Kayd Thorp pleaded guilty in the Bendigo Magistrates's Court to theft of a motor vehicle, use an unregistered vehicle, drive while disqualified, and contravene a community corrections order.
In November 2018, a black Mercedes station wagon was stolen in Melbourne and the following February, police found the vehicle in the garage of a vacant North Bendigo property and removed it.

Three days later, CCTV showed Thorp arrive at a Long Gully smash repair business where the Mercedes was stored, at 11.30pm.
After the lock and chain on the gate were cut, Thorp walked to the Mercedes, used a key to unlock it and drove it out of the holding yard.
The vehicle was later found in Eaglehawk.

Defence lawyer Nicholas Rolfe told the court Thorp was sentenced last June to 106 days for other offences, which was time already served, and an 18-month community corrections order, and there was no reason these offences could not have been dealt with on that occasion.
Mr Rolfe submitted he would be seeking a sentence of time served plus another community corrections order.
Thorp was remanded in custody to appear at the court for sentence on December 9.
