One of a partnership of peak bodies, Council on the Ageing is hoping to learn about how people are accessing the ever-changing aged care system.
"The system has become so complex and the government has given funding to help potentially devise a better model of helping people and the trial will help inform that process," Ms Hosking, a COTA Victoria member said.

"We need to get the message to people who have older parents, because care is a family matter."
Ms Hosking said the coronavirus pandemic has presented challenges for aged care advocates.
"In a normal year I would talk to 400 families," she said.
"Whereas this year, I haven't been able to do that and be as active in the community, instead depending on people reaching out."
Ms Hosking urged families to think about all forms of care, whether it be in-home or residential care.
"There is so much that can be done for people living in their own homes and these discussions should be had as a family, because aged care is a family matter," she said.
