Detectives have charged a Bendigo man with two counts of rape in relation to alleged attacks on a young woman and a teenage girl more than 30 years ago.

Police said a 20-year-old woman was attacked after being approached on View Street on January 15, 1988.
Then on March 19 that year, a 16-year-old girl was reportedly assaulted after she was driven to a track off Diamond Hill Road in Kangaroo Flat.

Police arrested a 57-year-old man at his property early Monday morning and later interviewed him.
He was charged and remanded to appear at Bendigo Magistrates' Court on Thursday.
Detectives continue to investigate the matters, including possible links to any other incidents.
