The Marist College Year 11 student will become the first female to play at second XI level in the BDCA.
Nevins, a Victoria Country representative at under-18 level last summer, forced her way into the Roos' second XI side after impressing during pre-season training.
"Jasmine is in the team on merit. Her training in the six weeks since we've been back has been impressive,'' Roos' coach Wayne Stubbings said.
"In the four years I've been at the club this is the strongest squad we've put together...Jasmine deserves her spot in the second XI for her batting and bowling.
"Her adaptability and the way she listens and wants to learn the game (is impressive).
"We've worked on her batting, particularly power hitting for one-day cricket. In bowling, we've worked on executing and understanding plans. Her overall desire to want to play cricket impresses me most. She's a genuine talent.
"It's great for Bendigo cricket to see her playing at this level."
The Roos' second XI side plays Sandhurst at Weeroona Oval and Nevins can't wait for the challenge.
"I'm really excited,'' Nevins said.
"Kangaroo Flat has been really supportive of me since I started playing cricket.
"Giving me the opportunity to step up and play senior cricket...I'm really grateful and very humbled."
Women's cricket in Bendigo has taken off in the past 12 months and the BDCA is about to start another junior competition dedicated to under-12 girls.
"Cricket has come a really long way and, hopefully, this can encourage other young girls and women to get out and play cricket,'' Nevins said.
"Cricket is a sport for everybody - girls and boys."
Nevins plays Victorian Women's Premier Cricket with Plenty Valley, but the season has been delayed because of COVID-19.
For now, Nevins wants to concentrate on playing well with the Roos.
"I'd like to get as much cricket under my belt as possible where I can get a game,'' she said.
"Premier cricket is definitely high on my priority list, but I value any game I can get in with Kangaroo Flat."
Nevins' debut on Saturday continues a proud family tradition at Kangaroo Flat.
Her great grandfather Les Shelton captained the club for seven years and her great uncle Keith Shelton is one of the Roos' all-time greats and a BDCA legend.
"I'm going to take a relaxed attitude into the game and everything will work itself out,'' Nevins said.
