The energy provider is installing a rapid earth fault current limiter device at the Bendigo terminal station.
The device can detect faults on the network and immediately reduce voltage to power lines when a tree branch falls on a line, or a line hits the ground.
Stress testing will take place between 11.30pm on Monday, October 26 and 6.30am the following morning.
More testing could occur at similar times on Wednesday and Thursday nights.
There are no outages planned, but residents are advised that testing can occasionally cause unplanned outages.
Powercor will have crews on standby to respond quickly should any outages occur.
This is the final device in Powercor's REFCL rollout in central Victoria, with other devices also installed at the Bendigo zone substation, Eaglehawk, Maryborough and Castlemaine.
