The Bendigo Magistrates' Court heard on Wednesday that Dylan Hector Karslake, 22, would enter guilty pleas to charges of recklessly causing serious injury and arson.
Mr Karslake will seek to have his matter heard in the Magistrates' Court, rather than have it uplifted to the County Court, with an application to be made next month.

The court heard on Wednesday that the Office of Public Prosecutions would oppose this application.
Mr Karslake was arrested and charged after a man in his 50s was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries on May 23 this year.
He is accused of inflicting the injuries on the older man and setting a shed alight.
Mr Karslake was remanded in custody on Wednesday to appear at the Bendigo Magistrates' Court again next month.
