He plans to spend the money on a home renovation and his family.
The regular player, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his 8 game marked entry at Golden Square Newsagency, 303 High Street, Golden Square
"I've never even won a chook raffle," the man told a TattsLotto official on Monday morning.
"I'd reckon this is a bit better than winning one of those anyway."
The man chose his winning numbers about 40 years ago when he began playing and said he could not remember why he chose them.
"I'm a semi-retired tradie, and work is getting harder and harder to get up for every day so I might think about retiring," he said.
The man bought the ticket from the Golden Square Newsagency, which has a history of division one wins even if it has had something of a drought in recent years, team member Emma Watson said.
"We are very pleased to have finally sold another one, and this one makes it 27 for our store," she said.
"Our customers will be thrilled that someone from Golden Square has won. It's put a smile on our faces during a tough year, and I think our customers will see that there is hope for 2020 yet."
The winning numbers on Saturday were 14, 12, 8, 38, 5 and 16, while the supplementary numbers were 3 and 17.
