"The meters are the latest technology and will replace all older, outdated payment machines over time to provide more convenient payment options for motorists as well as environmental and cost savings on ticket paper and maintenance," City of Greater Bendigo acting safe and healthy environments manager Jock Schofield said.
He said the new meters were easy to use and prevented motorists from having to return to their vehicle after paying for their parking.
Motorists can request an e-receipt if needed.

People will also be able to check how much time they have left on their parking by typing their number plate into any of these meters in the city.
The old meters will be removed in November.
The PayStay parking system, which allows motorists to pay for parking via a smartphone app, has also been extended.
It is available throughout the CBD, except in the Hargreaves and Edward street multi-storey car parks.
