The construction of the levee is part of stage three of the project and will be completed by the end of the year.
Crews will build the levee along Pleasant Street from the Pyrenees Highway to the railway line and High Street from the railway line to Church Street.
Works will include building up and constructing a sealed road, and associated open drainage works.
Central Goldfields Shire CEO Lucy Roffey said seeing Doran Earthmoving on site marked yet another significant milestone for the project.
"We acknowledge that this has been a long time coming for the Carisbrook community and we are thrilled to see construction now underway on site," she said.
"We remain committed to supporting the Carisbrook community in managing flood mitigation."
The levee project was designed in response to major floods which occurred in 2010 and 2011.
