More than 1100 workplace injury claims were made in the Loddon-Mallee region in the 2019-20 financial year.

Data from WorkSafe Victoria shows there were 1134 injury claims made in local government areas consisting of the City of Greater Bendigo, Mount Alexander Shire, Macedon Ranges Shire, Central Goldfields Shire, Loddon Shire, Campaspe Shire, Buloke Shire and Gannawarra Shire. The data also included two deaths.
It is a decrease on 2018-19 when there were 1166 injury claims accepted by WorkSafe in the Loddon Mallee region.

The health care and social assistance industry had the most number of claims in the Loddon-Mallee with 209 submitted. This as followed by manufacturing (157) and construction (125).
Musculoskeletal system injuries were the most common claim followed by traumatic tendon, muscle and ligament injury (198) and mental injury (187).
The most common cause of workplace injuries was body stressing with 362 claims. There were also 244 slips trips and falls claims and 212 claims involving someone being hit by a moving object.
WorkSafe executive director of health and safety Julie Nielsen said as workers return to work and workplaces reopen, it is important to be aware of any risks.
It's important we have an focus on COVID and the impacts of COVID but also all of the other health and safety risks that can be present at the work place," she said.
The data was released as WorkSafe Victoria prepares to offer 16 free online seminars to help maintain safe, healthy and connected workplaces during the COVID-19 pandemic as part of WorkSafe Health and Safety Month.
WorkSafe Victoria chief executive Colin Radford said this year's health and safety month program aimed at responding to immediate needs of workplaces.
"This year, Victorian workers and businesses are facing a unique and acute set of challenges," he said.
"These sessions are a valuable opportunity for people to get their questions answered and hear from the experts on a range of COVID-19 related issues.
"I encourage everyone who is connected with a workplace to have a look at the website and register for a session that will help them manage the risks of COVID-19."
