Promoter Duane McDonald said the tour definitely wouldn't be coming to Bendigo in January, given the COVID-19 restrictions.
However, the 2021 Bendigo Red Hot Summer Tour had not been cancelled.
"We'll be back in Bendigo as soon as we get some guidelines from the [state] government," Mr McDonald said.
Thousands of people attended the 2020 Bendigo Red Hot Summer Tour in January.
Performers included Hunters and Collectors, James Reyne, The Living End, The Angels, Baby Animals, Boom Crash Opera and Killing Heidi.
The event was staged at the Bendigo Racecourse.
In addition to uncertainty about the timing of a 2021 Bendigo Red Hot Summer Tour, a decision has yet to be made on whether patrons will be allowed to attend this month's Bendigo Cup.
Discussions between the state government and Racing Victoria are understood to be ongoing.
Bendigo Jockey Club chief executive Aaron Hearps was hopeful of some certainty by the end of the week.
He said the jockey club was quite diversified in its business model. The COVID-19 pandemic had impacted some of its revenue streams, but not to the extent some businesses specifically focused on events had experienced.
