A new COVID-19 case has been recorded in Mitchell Shire, linked to a known outbreak at a Melbourne butcher.
The new case is not classified in regional Victoria because Mitchell Shire is deemed to be an extension of metropolitan Melbourne, for the purposes of the COVID-19 restrictions.
Chief Health Officer, Professor Brett Sutton, said regional Victoria will remain at risk while there are essential workers moving to and from regional Victoria.
"We are all trying to protect regional Victoria from new cases," Professor Sutton said.
"Regional Victorians still need to get tested when they have symptoms and protect themselves."
The known outbreak, originating from Chadstone Shopping Centre's The Butchers Club is responsible for 20 cases.
