The 18-year-old, from Strathfieldsaye, has been charged with culpable driving causing death and negligently cause serious injury.
He was remanded in custody to appear at Bendigo Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.

The charges, which where laid by the Major Collision Investigation Unit, relate to an incident where a car crashed into a tree on McCrae Street about 3.15am on Monday morning.
A 16-year-old Goornong boy died at the scene and an 18-year-old Bendigo West man remains in hospital with serious injuries.
