There are no new coronavirus cases in regional Victoria, Premier Daniel Andrews said.

There were 10 new cases recorded on Tuesday, all from metropolitan Melbourne, with seven of those cases under investigation.

"These case numbers are evidence that the strategy is working," Mr Andrews said.

"There are just six active cases in regional communities.

"That is a fantastic number and one that every regional Victorian will be proud of."

Mr Andrews said the 14-day new case average in regional Victoria is 0.6 cases per day.

"It is proof beyond question that the strategy is working and something that is the work of every Victorian following the rules and playing their part," he said.

TEN more Victorians have been diagnosed with COVID-19, after a low of five on Monday.

Seven more people were reported as dead from the virus.

It was the smallest number of new cases reported on any one day since early June.

Central Victoria saw no new cases of COVID-19 on Monday.

Just two cases remained active in the region on Monday, both in the Macedon Ranges.

The number of active cases with a Greater Bendigo address dropped to zero on Friday, but the hospital was still treating a person for COVID-19.

Monday's figures brought Victoria's 14-day new case average to 20.3. But these were the results from only 6807 tests.

Premier Daniel Andrews warned that testing numbers would need to remain high for authorities to be confident about easing restrictions further.
