As part of this year's School Strike 4 Climate's global day of action, students focused on protesting the Federal Government's gas led recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Castlemaine Secondary School student Niamh O'Connor Smith said the event went well.
"We had to rethink how we would protest," she said. "Lots of people did online stuff but we felt people are more likely to engage with offline action.

"The collaborative installation had a banner and people could drop yellow flowers off to show how many people wanted this change.
"This is a message from Castlemaine to our Prime Minister that we don't want taxpayer's money handed to the gas industry, that will wreck our climate and damage our economic recovery.
"It went really well with the sign saying 'Fund our future, not gas' and had lots of people visited but never more than 10 at a time due to restrictions."
Niamh and her fellow students ended up with more than 100 yellow flowers with a number of Castlemaine people already agains a gas-led COVID-19 recovery and preferring renewable energy.
"There's lots of support from the community, adults and other students (for School Strike 4 Climate)," she said. "Castlemaine is a community that already knows that clean energy is the key to our future.
"Regional Victoria has done it tough in lockdown, and we want our economic recovery to be powered by clean energy, rather than the dirty gas the government is pushing."
