The Bureau of Meteorology said there was snow on Friday morning in low-lying parts of western Victoria, including Lismore and Lake Bolac.
"Last night there was a rain band that went through and there was a little bit of snow following that about the Mount Macedon area," the bureau's Keris Arndt said.
"We are expecting that area of really cold air down in the south-west to progress eastward as the day progresses."
Hail and thunderstorms are also possible on Friday with the potential for some localised lightning, Mr Arndt said.
Bendigo recorded 15 millimetres of rain overnight. There was 17mm recorded at Redesdale, and 18mm at Charlton.
