Students at the Bendigo Pre-School delivered nine packets of homemade biscuits to the dogs at BARC in East Bendigo.
Teacher Lisa Paxton came up with the idea as a way for the students to support the community.
"It was mostly because we wanted our children to do cooking," she said. "We couldn't cook for one another because of the COVID situation. So I had a brainwave one day and thought why don't we cook for the dogs?"
Mrs Paxton said she contacted BARC and they were very interested in the idea.

"Each year we reach out to our community," she said. "This was a way of doing both - to allow the kids to cook because there are so many benefits from cooking, but also to bless our community."
Mrs Paxton said BARC made the process very simple.
"They were very enthusiastic and patient, because we had to do our Father's Day gifts first and then the cooking," she said.
"They were very patient with that. But the dogs loved the cookies, which was the best part of it."
The students and their families made peanut butter and pumpkin treats, apple crunch pupcakes, apple and cinnamon dog treats, and cheesy dog biscuits.
"The children benefit from the cooking," Mrs Paxton said. "Lots of families got back to us and said how glad the kids were that they were doing something nice for the dogs."
Mrs Paxton said while the COVID-19 pandemic had presented some challenges this year, the kindergarten was progressing well.
"We have had all of our safety measures in place to make sure it's as safe as it can be for the children and staff," she said.
"But at the end of the term, everyone was back in my group and it was so lovely to see everyone."
Mrs Paxton said the kindergarten would keep the idea in their program for future years.
"It's been a lovely experience," she said. "It's a nice feeling to know you made a difference to some dogs but also the children as well."
