The Bendigo Chinese Association and Golden Dragon Museum planned to mark the occasion on October 3.
Each year, hundreds of people enjoy the event in Bendigo, hosted in the Dai Gum San precinct.
Bendigo Chinese Association president Doug Lougoon said Bendigo's much-loved Harvest Moon Festival joins other community events that have had to be cancelled.
"The Bendigo Chinese Association is looking forward to a bright new year in 2021 when again we will be able to present all of our popular and colourful festivals and celebrations," Mr Lougoon said.
Golden Dragon Museum chief executive Hugo Leschen said it's a shame the festival has been cancelled.
"The team at the Golden Dragon Museum is looking forward to welcoming everyone back once the museum is able to reopen," he said.
