Fresh off a top performance at last week's US Open where he secured a career-best major finish, Herbert will be the third-highest ranked player in the field for the tournament at the par-70 Galgorm Castle Golf Club.
Herbert is one of the tournament's top picks to win this week as he is straight on the back off a T31 finish at the US Open, outplaying some of the world's top-ranked players in addition to finishing as the leading Australian.
In the first round of the Irish Open Herbert is paired with 2019 Open champion and tournament favourite Shane Lowry and 2020 Portugal Masters winner George Coetzee, with the trio teeing of at 6.25pm AEST.
Ahead of the tournament Herbert is ranked 79th in the world and eighth on the Race to Dubai standings with 957.7 points.
Fellow Australians in the field are: Jason Scrivener, Wade Ormsby, Jake McLeod, Maverick Antcliff, Scott Hend, Min Woo Lee and Zach Murray.
Herbert finished T55 in the 2019 Irish Open where Spaniard Jon Rahm was the winner at 16-under par.
Following the Irish Open he will remain in the United Kingdom and play in the Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open.
