The former WA galloper proved too strong for his three rivals in the $50,000 Gold Nugget (1600m).
Coming Around was dropping back sharply in class from the Feehan Stakes at Moonee Valley and he had few troubles in collecting the first prize.
Jockey William Pike, who is based in Bendigo for the spring carnival, sat Coming Around outside the leader Alsvin and then surged to the front after rounding the home turn.
Coming Around had too much class for a gallant Barry The Baptist, with Cape Richards third in the four-horse field.
Stanley has had a high opinion of Coming Around since he joined his stable and he'll now target him at some of the feature spring 1600m-2000m races.
"We'll see how he pulls up and then earmark some of those country cups coming up and also those good races just below the Group Ones,'' Stanley told racing.com after the win.
