A 19-year-old woman who was thrown from a moving car driven by a learner in Eaglehawk overnight suffered a serious head injury.
Police said the woman was not wearing a seat belt when she was ejected through the white Ford sedan's front passenger-side window on Napier Street about 1.15am.
The car was going past a roundabout at the intersection with Denham Street.
The woman was taken to the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne, police said.

The driver, an 18-year-old man, stopped at the scene.
He was questioned about the incident and gave a breath test.
Police said they were continuing to investigate and were yet to lay charges.
