The AusCycling proposal is a project with the goal to improve the efficiency of management of all cycling disciplines in the country in order to administer a better service for clubs and members.
"A single licence, giving access to the world of cycling and from the outset affordably priced, will be an important instrument in growing membership," Victorian cycling clubs said in a combined statement.
" As clubs this means more people at our events, either competing or spectating, buying from our canteens, purchasing our apparel and all bonded by the love of the bike. All of this will boost our club finances, add to our evolving cultures and grow cycling."
Some of the proposed benefits of AusCycling include :
- One unified voice to more effectively advocate on behalf of all cyclists and clubs - for everything from infrastructure to safety and bike education
- One strengthened and aligned membership body to increase the prospect of corporate partnerships and support from all levels of government
- Enhanced resources and support services for all clubs and members through professionally staffed offices in every State & Territory
- A single race licence that covers all disciplines - no need for a separate licence to ride BMX, mountain bikes and road and track bikes
