Rapple Borris Tadeje, 30, did not appear at the Bendigo Magistrates' Court on Friday, but was represented by lawyer Luke Docherty.
Mr Tadeje has been charged with dangerous driving causing death, careless driving and failing to give way at an intersection following the October 29, 2019 collision on the Calder Alternative Highway.
More court news:
He was driving a truck carrying beehives when he was involved in a crash with motorcyclist Norm Suckling about noon.
Mr Suckling, a 64-year-old farmer who had lived in the Creswick area his whole life, died at the scene.
Mr Tadeje was charged with the offences on September 5.
He will return to the Bendigo Magistrates' Court in December for a committal mention.
His bail was extended to that date.
