Macedon Ranges Shire Council has appointed an acting chief executive officer following the resignation of Margot Stork last week.
John Hausler, the council's director of corporate and community since 2017, will serve as CEO for the time being.
The council says Mr Hausler has a track record of success in leading corporate and community services.
While acting CEO, Mr Hausler will continue to work on the new organisational restructure, which came into force this financial year, and help prepare for the upcoming local government elections and new council.
Ms Stork's resignation was announced last week.
It came three years into her four-year contract.
The reason for her departure has not been disclosed.
