COMPETITION for spots is set to be fierce this coming season at reigning Emu Valley Cricket Association premiers United.
The Tigers have not only retained all of their 2019-20 division one premiership team, but have also had an active off-season recruiting campaign.
Kane Goldsworthy is joining the Tigers having last season been part of Elmore's Northern United Cricket Association premiership team.
All-rounder Goldsworthy has also represented Murray Valley at Bendigo Country Week and had a stint in the BDCA with Bendigo.
The Tigers will inject Alex Code into their top-order. Code is joining United from Golden Square where he has a highest BDCA first XI score of 81.
"Alex is a classy batsman and he's good in the field. He's coaching the Harcourt footy club, so he brings with him a lot of leadership as well," United chairman of selectors Pat Hartney said on Wednesday.
"He's played quite a bit of first XI cricket at Golden Square, so we're really excited to have him join us."
The Tigers have 2015-16 premiership player George Hartney returning.
"George is a really good club person and all-round cricketer... he bats, bowls and fields well," Hartney said.
"We've also got Rhys Roberts joining us from Inglewood. He's a left-arm medium bowler and a fairly aggressive batsman and his numbers with both bat and ball have been good over the past couple of seasons.
"Tom Pontell has committed to play this year and is another bowling option who is also an aggressive lower-order batsman. And we've also got Ash Murtagh on board full-time as a player who bowls well and has a very sound technique with the bat.
"We think with what we've recruited and the depth we've got, there's going to be a lot of healthy competition for spots and it's really going to give us the chance to reward those who put in the work."
Reigning EVCA Cricketer of the Year Harry Whittle will continue as Tigers' captain for a second season.
Star all-rounder Whittle is coming off a stellar 2019-20 season of 41 wickets and 385 runs for the Tigers, who are also the defending Twenty20 champions and therefore eligible for Cricket Victoria's Regional Big Bash competition should it go ahead.
