Hermoso Hair and Beauty owner Tanya Waldon said a man who "flies in and out" of Tasmania called to book an appointment for his children.

The man told her he had been in home quarantine in a separate shed in the backyard so she accepted the appointment.

But Ms Waldon said it became clear he had been in close contact with his children once they arrived on at her salon on the north coast of Tasmania.

"As soon as they sat down they said 'Dad cut our hair yesterday'," Ms Waldon said.

"And he's got no bathroom or toilet out in his shed so he is inside."

Ms Waldon said she sought advice from health authorities and decided to close for four days so she could clean the shop and get tested.

She said there would probably "only be a very slight chance of having the virus brought in here" but she was still furious her business and clients had been "put at risk".

"I've got a lot of elderly clients and I've been busting my butt since lockdown to keep them safe," she said.

'"And then you get someone who thinks they can do what they like .... That's how we will get it back in Tassie."

The Public Health Service was asked about the incident and a spokesperson said the service "expects Tasmanians arriving from the mainland to comply with quarantine conditions".

Tasmania Police said they were "aware of the report of alleged non-compliance, however at this stage no offence has been identified".

People who are eligible to complete a 14-day quarantine at home are advised to practice strict physical distancing at all times, avoid shared spaces and wear a facemask "if you need to be around other people at home".

They also need to sleep in a separate bed and use a separate bathroom to other household members if possible.

A person living with someone in quarantine is not required to stay home provided the isolated person has no symptoms.

Ms Waldon said she reopened her business on Monday and had tested negative for COVID-19.

But she feared people were "not thinking about the bigger picture and the consequence of not doing the right thing".

"Hopefully this little scare that happened here might make people think a little more," she said.
