Bendigo Stadium Limited chief executive officer Nathan O'Neill said the club valued the support from the state government "during such challenging circumstances".
"Really pleased to receive positive news last week with the Bendigo Spirit being successful in the National Sport Organisations and Professional Clubs COVID-19 support program driven by the state government," O'Neill said.
Overall a $9 million support package will be shared between Victorian-based sports clubs, organisations and bodies across the state.
In addition to the recent funding, the Spirit are also thankful for the support received from their existing sponsors.
"That can also be said for our existing loyal partners who have stuck by the Bendigo Spirit, as well as our new partners who have committed to this season and beyond," O'Neill said.
"We know we will bounce back, and for our partners and members to also see this is very comforting. Our partners and members keep us going, and we are forever thankful."
Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events Martin Pakula said it was important for clubs and peak bodies to be "able to get through this time in relatively good shape".
"Professional sport and elite competition provide entertainment and inspiration and fans getting the all-clear to return to the stands will be a significant part of our economic recovery," Mr Pakula said.
At a media briefing held in August WNBL officials revealed the league was aiming to tip-off the season by around mid-November, despite plenty of uncertainty caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Among the proposed models for the 2020/21 season include a a seven-week hub campaign in one location, or several 'one-to-two week' hubs using multiple locations.
"We are prepared for a season that may look a little different to what we are used to, which is yet to be determined," O'Neill said.
"However, we know the upside of what sport does for our livelihoods. We are all going through difficult times currently, and sport instills hope, energy, and positivity to keep us all moving forward.
"Whatever the WNBL looks like this season, the Bendigo Spirit will be ready."
