We're being cautioned of the need for tolerance and patience as political and health leaders plot the way forward to coincide with the milestone September 13 date that marks the current limit to restrictions.
The reality we all accept is that we all want things to change, but we accept changes have to be measured and reflect the other factors in play.

Doing the best we can to suppress any future growth in case numbers and being ready to respond in the unfortunate event of further outbreaks are both critical.
The reality is we cannot honestly say we will do everything to reduce further cases, because that would mean not easing restrictions in the first place.
Mr Andrews needs to complete a lot of discussions with an incredible range of stakeholders - from unions to business leaders, education heads, transport bosses, welfare and community organisations and of course, the health sector.
There are enormously challenging decisions to be made about enormously challenging circumstances. Simply wanting things to change isn't enough.

A plan to ease back restrictions, protect Victorians to the best extent we can and allow business to once again kick start, while every other sector of the community also looks to get on with life, is so desperately needed.
We know there is no text book of instructions on how to manage the pandemic, and we acknowledge there have been mistakes along the way.
But all this makes the need to get whatever we do next right even more vital. Victoria can ill-afford a relapse, and such an event would be devastating to our psyche, and to the national economy as well as any number of people who might contract the virus.
The health and safety of Victorians has always been paramount, but it's never been more important as the planned response to the next chapter of this pandemic continues to take shape.
